IRS Announces Start of Filing Season

IRS announces January 29th as the first day to file a tax return for 2017.  They will not accept an E-Filed return until this date and mailed returns will not be processed until after the 29th.  Those filing returns that receive the Earned Income Tax Credit and other refundable credits can expect that refunds will be delayed until at least mid February.
